Painting "She knows" by Didi Konings.

A commissioned
portrait.

Of yourself, of someone you love or of someone you miss. Painted in acrylic, oil or mixed media: not just how someone looks, but what lives underneath.

A commissioned portrait begins with a conversation. Who is it, what do you want to hold on to, and where will it hang?

Didi listens, looks and asks further, until there is more than a face. Then the canvas goes on the easel in the studio in Goirle. Colour and layering carry the feeling of a moment; reality and intuition come together. The result is a portrait that is not only seen, but also felt.

How a portrait comes about

  1. Getting acquainted

A conversation, in the studio or on the phone: about who it is and what the portrait should hold on to.

  2. Choosing the image

Photos you already have, or a session in which Didi takes the photos herself. Together you choose the image.

  3. Making arrangements

Size, technique and colour. You know in advance what it costs and when it will be ready.

  4. Painting

Layer by layer on the canvas. Halfway through, you are welcome to come and have a look.

  5. Collection

Collected from the studio, or delivered and hung.
